Bye-bye, dairy!

I quit dairy 18 days ago. I didn't introduce any nondairy replacements at first. I mean, I've been using nondairy milks exclusively since last year. But I took out things like cheese, butter, sour cream and yogurt while not replacing them with a nondairy substitute. This week I tried out two different store-bought nondairy cheeses as well as making my own homemade coconut milk yogurt (all of which, I loved!) I'm hoping to try making my own nondairy cheeses at home next month, to save money (Daiya and Chao are expensive!)

I went vegetarian at the beginning of the year. I can't even remember the last time I ate a hot dog, so the LightLife Smart Dogs this week tasted AMAZING! I also treated myself to the Beyond Meat Hamburgers... WoW! SO delicious and the most authentic meat substitute that I have ever tasted. I took eggs out on the 20th of this month. And I think I'll be able to be almost entirely plant-based this go-around.

I'm checking nutrition labels and avoiding even baked goods that contain eggs or dairy. I've decided that when it comes to meals with friends and family, I will always bring a complete food dish with me both to feed myself and to share with others. This time I'm not bending just to avoid hurt feelings. I feel terrific on plant-based nutrition and like when I quit smoking, don't ever want to look back. Not only to I feel really good about this decision, but I can't wait to see what the future holds for as I return to a vegan path!
